This two-bedroom villa with adjacent guest house is close enough to the ocean to smell the salt of the sea, yet secluded in a way that allows guests to feel like they’ve discovered their own little slice of hidden paradise nestled deep in the southern Costa Rica rainforest.
When arriving at the property, which sits just 2 minutes off the coastal highway, our guests consistently compliment the villa’s medieval exterior design. Beautiful river rocks dot the outside walls of both the main villa and guest house, giving both structures their fairy-tale feel.
Once inside, the house takes on a much more modern look with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, laundry facilities, flat-screen television and high-speed Internet. Both bedrooms are located upstairs – as is the bathroom – and each bedroom features an ocean-view patio that’s ideal for sipping coffee or cocktails while enjoying the impressive natural scenery below.
In another unique twist the property’s swimming pool, which is located between the main villa and guest house, has its own covered shade area over most of the water. It really is an ideal outdoor setup that allows guest to relax in the pool without taking in copious amounts of sunlight. When guests are ready to get some sun, they can use a poolside lounge chair or climb in one of two hammocks that are perched on the water’s edge. There is also an outdoor shower and bathroom adjacent to the pool for added convenience.
The guest house features a queen bed, built-in couch and an outdoor bathroom. It’s ideal for an additional couple or for kids who long for a bit of safe separation from their parents while on vacation. Many kids have commented that staying in the guest house is like going to summer camp, only 10-times better! This guest house can be rented in addition to the main villa. It never gets rented out separately and is always empty if the guests opt not to utilize it.
There are multiple beaches within walking distance of the villa, going both north and south. These beaches are extremely secluded, so there’s always a great chance of total privacy on the sand or in the ocean. The property is also lush with native vegetation and fruit trees, including starfruit, bananas and mangos. Monkeys, toucans and parrots visit the area quite often, particularly near the back of the property behind the guest house.
Driving to the two closest towns, Dominical to the north and Uvita to the south, takes less than 10 minutes. There are ample opportunities for shopping and dining in either location. In addition, there are pharmacies, medical and dental offices, banks and a gas station all in Uvita.
